 - Commissions of Inquiry into Indian affairs in the Canadas, 1828-1858 

The reports from these commissions formed the basis of Canadian Indian Policy. They go into detail about the conditions of many tribes, and include specific strategies adapted to the most effective "civilization of the Indians" that include efforts to use education, industry, and religion to separate them from their traditions, and keep them from turning to the Americans to the south for help.
